Bob Coppedge (Simplex-IT) and Jane Winick name 3 recipients of Craze eCool Award 2017 at this year’s Cleveland GiveCamp.
Started last year by Jane Winick and Bob Coppedge, the Craze eCool Award is given to non-profits that participate in the Cleveland GiveCamp. Last year 2 organizations (Empowering Youth Enabling Justice. Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates) were the winners, and split the cash award. This year it was extended to 3 organizations ($500 to each of them) at the wrap-up on 23 July:
For those not aware, Cleveland GiveCamp just completed its 8th year. Each year dozens of developers descend on Cleveland developers LeanDog (extremely cool) boat/office/secret lair as well as Burke Lakefront airport and develop web sites and other applications for nonprofits at no charge. It’s a crazy weekend. Over the span of GiveCamp it’s estimated that over $4million dollars of developer work has been donated.
One of the founders of the Cleveland event, Andy Craze, lost his battle with cancer in 2016 just prior to last year’s GiveCamp. His partner Jane Winick along with Simplex-IT’s Bob Coppedge created this award in Andy’s memory.
This year Jane and Bob were assisted in selecting the winners by Bob’s wife Julie and their granddaughter Hannibal Kinney (some say her name is Hanah, Bob disagrees).
