Summer about done, busy rest of 2018

4 grandkids

September is an odd month.  Not quite summer, not quite Fall.  School’s back in for the kids (or in my case grandkids, 2/3's of which are pictured here), but there’s still enough heat (ok, it’s 90+ degrees today, so) to keep summer thoughts going.

You’d think it would be the end of a quarter, but nope.  That’s next month.  And that’s ok, we’ve got plenty of stuff going on to discuss.

First of all, we had a blast at the Arcade.  We tried something new for our annual Survival Celebration (can’t do a picnic in a basement, turns out<g>).  We put on a party at the Quarter Up Bar Arcade, and about 60 folks joined us for food, drinks and old-school video games.  Thanks for Patti, Alex, Rob for putting this together.  We may have to do this again, and sooner than you might think!

We also tried something, well, impulsive.  For those of you not in the know, (like me until recently) August 24th is “National Waffle Day”, and we of course celebrated this meaningful day.  Patti made waffles for everybody at Simplex-IT, including anyone who wandered in.  We had about 10 guests that morning, and they walked away fuller and (we hope) happier.

We also say goodbye to Alec and Angus, our two part-time summer interns.  Together they helped create an inventory system for our tech workroom, a display feed for our entryway monitors, and just helped out wherever they were needed.  But it’s back to school for both of them, hopefully they’ll unlearn all of the bad habits we gave them (don’t bet on it). For our friends, look out for a surprise later this month.  And be creative.  Not *too* creative.  But…be creative.

We’ve finalized our participation in October for the Ohio Society of CPA's CPA Cleveland Accounting Show.  We’ll have a booth and I’ll be speaking there.  Simplex-IT will also have a booth at COSE’s upcoming BizConCLE on November 1st at the IX Center.  I’ll be speaking there as well (topic and time TBD).Later in November I’ll be speaking at IT Nation, one of the larger conferences dedicated to the MSP (Managed Service Provider) world, which Simplex-IT is a part of.  Great conference, and usually great speakers.  Well, until now, that is…<g>. And Patti will make her conference speaking debut in Columbus in November.

Which leads us to December, and our ever-present Geek Raffle.  We’re actually going to change that up a bit.  More info on that soon!
